After work, I start to walk home. It is such a nice evening that I take the long way home walking through a park instead. The park is pleasant and it is nice to see happy people walking together enjoying the fine spring weather.
I smile a little as I walk. Finally, I decide to sit down on a bench and read a book. The book is about the history of Manala mining.

(To Peter)
Dinari heads back inside after spending the afternoon at the pool. He feeds his fish and raids his fridge for anything that seems like it might be good to eat. He ends up eating left over burgers from last week when Tuvi made him burgers. This makes him mildly ill, since they probably weren't good any more.
Feeling ill, he decdies to lounge on the couch and give Peter a call. It is always good to touch bases with him. So he calls and waits to see if Peter answers....

((OOC-I will try to sneak on at work tonight if i can Kaschei)) To MachiavelliKaschei spends some time investigating the situation in Cuba. One of the most interesting things that he learns is that there is a rebel communist group called Red Infinity which has been active on the island. This new information is helpful, since he would like to meet their leader and see if perhaps they can work together. It is always good to have allies in case things with Dinari turn sour.
He ponders these things as he walks down a street in Havana. However, his thoughts are quickly broken when he notices Machievelli. The black dragon must have split off from Alexei for a while, since it appears that the dragon is alone.
"Hello. Events thus far have pleased me. We of couse need to proceed carefully. I have a contract with Dinari Dollar, but I am not certain he trusts me over the Manalists. We must be careful to cultivate this friendship and build his trust." Kaschei says to the dragon.
It is warm and Kaschei is not dressed for the climate. He is still wearing black pants and a silky red long sleaved shirt. His clothes are sticky and uncomfortable here.
"Yes master. What do you propose we do to make this human trust us... more than he already does I mean? He likes money no?"
Mac can tell Kaschei's clothes are too hot. But the dragon enjoys seeing them stick to his masters body. The younger form suits him alot more than the older frame he use to have.

Tuesday was somewhat relieved by Malak's quick excuse.
"Oh yeah, my cousins birthday party! Shoot! I did forget the present, silly me. Poor little...Jim. We'll have to stop by my place." She looked to the girl, she didn't want to just leave her there, so she produced a piece of paper and scrawled her number and her name and handed it to her, before waving her off, turning on her heel and walking toward the hotel she was staying at with Malak.
Once they were out of earshot she looked up at him. "So seeing as I don't have any little cousins with birthdays today, what brings you around here?" She asked, still walking toward her hotel.

"Long ago, this place used to be quite popular with the mafia. It was a haven for crime and sin. It would be nice to restore it to how it was so long ago." Kaschei says as they walk together. Unable to take the heat, he leads them into a small, dingy looking cafe, which is at least air conditioned. They take a seat in the back. It is dark and dusty, with cheap looking fake wood paneling which is stained and pealing.
"Yes, we need to build his trust. He does like money. Above that though, I think he values his own safety from the Manalists. Wealth is of little value to corpses. So....how do you suppose we build his trust?"

"Just wanted to see how things were going with your interview with Calithin. I was just in South America checking out some mines and it was pretty awful. The conditions are terrible. So yeah, I finished up my end of things." Malak says as they walk. He is tired since he has been working pretty hard lately. He has been traveling a lot and not to mention the part time work he does for All mart.
"Calithin, I can't believe you can stomach being in the same room with him. I don't envy you and this interview thing."

As I walk home I cut through the park and come across a certain avant-garde personality who happens to work for me. I take a seat on the bench next to Hilja and snatch her book away.
"What are we reading?"
I flip through a few of the pages and turn to the back to look at the synopsis.
"Well... Not exactly light reading but it could be worse. I was going to throw it in the bushes or rip out the last chapter if I didn't like what it was, but this is fine. You can keep your whoooooole book."
I hand it back to her and yawn.

"You must have an awful lot of money if Crest Mining is the only company in the world that can mine those crystals. I mean, they're used for everything. It's the only fuel left really. Even oil had at least several companies." I say to Calithin. It is odd that he just sort of appeared there as I happened to be reading a book about the History of Manala Mining. The economy is slightly different today where individuals can own entire companies, rather than shares, since the Manalists determined that the stock market was unstable and a form of collectivism.
"You must be...the richest person in the whole world."

"Maybe so. You don't get a medal for it though. I know, I know! I thought you would, too. But no. No medal. It is a thankless position to be in... Thankless except for... Like... All the money and splendor and the beautiful homes and what not. Other than that it's thankless."
I pick my legs up and readjust myself so that I'm sitting Indian style on the bench... But in a not at all racist way.
"So what are you doing at the park? Shouldn't you be working?"

"Oh, I already worked today, so now I am relaxing and reading so I can learn a little about history. Want to hear what I read about?" I ask him. I am sure he knows the complete history of Manala mining, but, maybe he would like to know if the book is accurate or not.
A bug flies into my hair and I swat it away. I guess it must like my strawberry scented shampoo.

I make a face like I just ate something not-good... Like straight garlic... Or yams.
"Uh... Sure. Why not? Go for it. Tell me what you learned today. We're practically a children's show. Let's hear it."
I lean my head back on the bench and listen attentively.

On his way from Bambi's apartment, back to the teleportation booth, Peter's phone started to ring. He checked it and flipped it open with a smile. "Boss, hey, how's things after your little vacation? Bummer about those Ruskies but don't worry about a thing, Tuvi and I'll have to in hand before long.
So, what's up?"

"Oh, well the interveiw wasn't really for our paper. It was for more of a public thing." Tuesday said, shrugging.
"He's really not that bad, you know. He's actually kind of fun to be with." They arrived in front of her hotel, and she reached to push the door open into the lobby.
"I don't know if you wanted to go somewhere else to talk, but we were close to my hotel so I figured we'd be fine to come here."

"Oh goodie, since I really love to explain things!" I say, then clap my hands together.
"Well, once upon a time, there were all sorts of wars and problems related to oil, which eventually ran out. This caused a terrible crisis in the world because it was such an important source of fuel. Things were looking pretty grim when Manala crystals were discovered."
"The Manala crystals were actually a sort of amber that contained a concentrated amount of Manala energy..since plants are a naturally high source of this. Anyway, several companies tried to mine the crystals, some with great success and others less so. The main problem with mining them is that miners die very young from gray sickness..a mysterious disease caused by the red crystals.."
I explain on and on for a while longer, paying special attention to chapter three, which was my favorite so far.
"Anyway, Crest Mining successfully destroyed the competition because of its close relationship with Sota and Genetech which afforded it a significant army that was able to take control of mining regions." I explain. Calithin seems a little bored by it all.
"There have been some mining revolts in recent years, but they have always been successfully put down by force. So...it is a pretty violent history, all in all." I state.

"Hey Peter Pie, just thought I would drop a line and see how things are hanging." Dinari says in a friendly tone. He sits up a little bit, even though his stomach is still feeling icky.
"Yeah, so anyway, about Cuba. Well, things there...hmm, I don't know. I am not sure what I think of this mafia thing. At first I was afraid, and now I just think it is bother...or, well, I just don't know. I just want to make friends and be happy. I don't want a lot of enemies. So, do you think it will really matter if they are there too? As long as they stay out of my hair like they said they would, do you think it matters?"
