Malak arrives at the Marxmas party early. He decides to help Hilja with some of the food and decorating. This is his first Marxmas, and he thinks the idea of celebrating is sort of a foolish waste of time. They should be organizing something. But, that will come. It is always good to have some food and fun. Maybe it will help them focus...and just renew their energy for the hard work ahead of them.
He hangs a pinata of Manala Claus and starts searching Hilja's home for a stick or something to hit it with. He mostly keeps to himself for now.

Dinari wonders for a moment where Tuvi is when he arrives to the Manala Max party in Switzerland. Usually she is somewhere around him, but, he hasn't seen her for several hours. He left a message on her phone that he was heading to the party, but there was no reply. He reasons that maybe she was jealous that he was talking to Capricious at the World Economic Council meeting.
"Oh well, Tuvi will cheer up when she gets a load of my cool gift for her." Dinari says to himself. He wanders inside the cabin like building and helps himself to some hot cocoa. Since it is a ski resort, he wonders if anyone will be going skiing later. Dinari has never tried it before, so he thinks it might be fun to try out.

"Wow thats... quite a list." Tuvi says. She really wants to say its eccentric and slightly self-centered but refrains from doing so.
"Life magazines are the best! I have a collection of them. I love reading about the little things people found interesting."
She hears her phone chime and checks it. Seeing a message from Dinari, she decides to ignore it for the moment. He is probably at some party and expects her nearby. Not this time...

After absolutely no luck reaching out to the nihilists, Horacio arrives in Helsinki. In order to get there, he had to steal one of Bonifaz's paintings and steal it. He hates stealing, but, no one seemed to notice in the chaos from the visit from the Invisible Hand.
Horacio spends some time strolling through the city before he arrives at the house. He steps up to the door and rings the doorbell. He hopes they let him in, even if he is an anarchist and a stranger.

"Yeah, thanks! I know, I know. I like being eclectic. Wide range of interests. Gives you something to talk about with everyone."
I lean forward a little and notice her check her phone.
"Ahhh. Your job is hard. Seriously. I couldn't do it. People are too messed up to assist... I mean, anyone. Even the simplest, meekest person is far too complicated to try and micromanage. Yeesh. Like having a talking, psychotic puppy."
When the waitress comes by with our food I thank her politely and gaze at my meal. Looks delicious.
"If you don't like the food here it'll break my heart. I'm investing my feelings in this restaurant. I'll have to exile myself to Iceland and... Die. Just saying. Beware."

Momo arrives at the party with her robot body guards. She also has large gifts. A lot of this event is trying to win friends through gift giving. So, with robots and gifts in tow, she passes through security. She has had some good ideas since the last meeting of the Economic Council and will present some of these ideas at the party.
For now though, she joins other party goers at the buffet table and gorges herself on cookies, cocoa, nuts, fruit cake, and salty snacks. She notices some others have arrived, but, she is too hungry to socialize right now.

"I don't think you have to go so far Dinari. I'm sure I'll love the food." And to make her point, Tuvi takes a bite of hers. "Yummy!"
"So, do you have a date to the Manala Max party?"

Annika is on guard duty at the Manala Mas party. After screwing up at the Banquet of the Blessed, she is hyper vigilant. She knows that another mistake might send her to the scrap yard. Normally she has been very effective at any mission or job she has been given. She wonders if she is malfunctioning or should be upgraded. Annika remains outside of the festivities, keeping a watchful eye on the resort and the force field. She is watching for the first sign of anything suspicious. This time, nothing will go wrong.

"Ah, good. I'm glad you like it. My emotional stocks are up."
This is a play on the term 'emotional investment,' but people very rarely understand my economic jokes. It's, like, the saddest thing ever.
"Uhmm... I don't believe that I do. I've been busy. I'm definitely going though. Are you going? And if so... I think you should go with me. I think we should get together in a scenario that does not include a multi-million Rand business deal, for once."
I take a bite of my food, which tastes great, and get a refill on my drink when the waitress comes back around.

"Well the other option was to go with Dinari but it appears he is taking your sister..." Tuvi says. She feels a twinge in her chest. Jealous?
Sure... when Father Manala dances a jig!
"I think I'd prefer you. You seem extra cool... maybe even cooler than Dinari. But don't tell him I said that." Tuvi adds. She gets another drink but ignores it to finish her food.

Malak helps with some of the decorating and food preparations. Then, there is a knock at the door. I got to the door and see a somewhat odd looking guy. "Come in!" I say cheerfully. I lead him inside to one of the old couches by the Marxmas Tree. The home I live in is always very cold. There is a mold problem in the basement and the bathroom. The house is old and the walls are cracked and yellow in some spots. We put plastic wrap over the windows during the winter to conserve heat. To save on fuel costs, the place is usually very chilly. Never more than 50 degrees. But, this is home and the only place that I can afford to live. I rent from a Luddite who owns the home due to a divorce settlement. He rents out the rooms upstairs, and the rest of the house is shared. Mine is the largest room, which is nice.

"Ohmygod... I swear! Where does she find the time!? I think she has a time machine that allows her to go back and make sure she's dated EVERY ONE. It's magic. It's nothing short of magic."
I shake my head and take a deep breath. This revelation completely astounds me.
"Geeeeeeez. Well... This should be an interesting party. Also, thanks for the shout out to my coolness. Much love back your way. I don't think Allmart would last a day without you. But really."
I space out a little bit as I eat thinking about my sister and... Dinari Dollar. So, so crazy.
"Does this whole bananza mean that, contrary to rumors, you and Dinari do not... Like... Have a thing going? You can tell me the truth. I am mad trustworthy."

Tuvi snorts so hard she almost chokes on her last bit of food. "Sorry, that was completely un-lady like of me..."
"Dinari and I... no. Just no. Him and I have an understanding that we are friends and I work for him." Tuvi says, shuddering. Imagining a thing going with Dinari is too unimaginable.
"I mean I do live with him but I have my own chunk of his house to myself. Its decorated differently and everything." She takes a swallow of her drink and chuckles. "I thought those rumors were done."

I smile and finish up my lunch. When the waitress comes around I let her clear the plates and ask for the check.
"That's funny... It's decorated differently and everything... I like that. Ha. Well, okay then. Rumors are rumors though. Ugh. You know how wealthy people are... Too much idle time-- they love gossip. I try to keep my personal life on the DL as much as I can."
I finish my drink then pay the check, leaving a very generous tip for our most attentive waitress.
"Well, I this was a very productive meeting..."
I escort Tuvi outside and call a cab for her.
"I have to finish some things up back at the office and go home to get ready, but I can pick you up, say... Around 8, and we'll teleport over to the party. How does all that sound?"

Post by Ariel Tal Shachar on Jan 4, 2009 2:20:06 GMT -5
Ariel arrives at the party in good spirits. Consumer spending perked up late in the Manala Mas season thanks to unseasonably warm weather. The nice weather helped people get out and about to do their Manala Mas shopping. Some new toys and technological gadgets also helped to increase spending. There was more this season that people WANTEd to buy. Ariel is pleased with this. The Economic Council spent a good amount of money on advertisement this season and it also seemed to help. Even if people have less to spend, they at least aren't being frugal with their money. This may cause problems later with Creditors, but for now, it is keeping the economy going. Ariel has a smile on his face as he helps himself to some cheese on crackers. He avoids the small sausages and the shrimp, for some reason or another.
