Cephrien turns his head around and slightly tenses up.. however, he quickly calms down when he sees Sasha's face. He lowers his eyelids a little to think. He remembers seeing Sasha after the event in Helsinki.. but there was another kind of familiarity about him that he just couldn't put his finger on.. like he had met him before then as well..
Well nevermind that.. Ceph kept quiet, even after Sasha had offered his help. His attention was brought to Salome as she was knocked out and taken away by Manalist Guards. As the Guards came in with the woman, he slightly bent his knees and tightened his fists.. and without letting them too far, The demon attacked. He sprung forward and slammed his elbow against one of their temples and then spun around to deliver a explosive kick to the other one's side.
With his demonic strength, he was able to knock them both out in an instant and they dropped Salome to the ground. He bent down to check the woman as he looked at Sasha out of the corner of his eye. "I'm wrapping things up here."

Like a spider patiently waiting for a fly to get ensared in his web, so too was Darian waiting for Ceph to step out of the arena. His sights already trained on one of the doors that he suspected him to come through. So confident was he that he didn't bother to use the enhanced optics to peer through the walls and find out if he was still going to do that. After Salome's fight, however, Darian became unsure and used his mask's optics to find Ceph still inside. "Shit." Darian silently swore as he broke off at full speed down through the stands toward the arena.
It had been her he had been after. If he hadn't tried to save the others, then it must have been her. Why else would he be laying in wait? Darian didn't want to disrupt things and cause a scene here which was Ceph's only saving grace from the Exitus Rifle. Following the guards, Darian kept near the door and stayed quiet; his cloaking field on and thus making him invisible to the naked eye. Just when Ceph started to head out or leave, Darian pulled out his Exitus pistol and took aim for the spot where Ceph's heart was. Pulling the trigger, Darian fired a single loud shot in hopes that his pressence hadn't been detected before hand. [dice=6][rand=3708239273745972605658228751790892093943875908392610139755778937]

"No, I won't go to my room. You aren't in control of me." Amelia says to Bonifaz defiantly. "I will go along to the anarchist meeting." She states. Her mind is finally clear again, but the one who is truly in control of her is the machine that departed. For now, she seems to act independently. For the first time in her existence, she is not taking orders from any human master. Her programming has been altered by a fellow machine. This transition of power is an unusual experience for the machine. In some ways, it is no different than before. Instead of following Annette Rosenthal and Global Bank, she is subject to machine power.
Though, for some vague reason, she still experiences some loyalty or connection to Null.
"Do you still wish to be a machine Archer? After all of this?"

"I think we should feed him to pigs!" Annette shouts out. Pigs are sacred animals to the Manalists, so she thinks that this would be a good fate for the victorious rebel. However, it seems that more people are calling out in support of letting Lucio be a part of the parade.
"Alright fine...how about, we put him in the parade, then feed him to pigs!!" Annette calls out. This second suggestion is more popular than her last one anyway. She thinks because Lucio is a socialist and a rebel, he should be punished, even if he did win the fights.
On the other hand, strength and victory should be rewarded. She feels conflicted about this. She generally thinks that hard work and special talents should be recognized. However, what if those talents and hard work serve a rebel cause? Can she respect that?

While everyone is trying to figure out what to do with Lucio, Dinari gets a call from Allwhere. It turns out that something is going on there. The workers at one of his factories have been missing some work. About two dozen are sick at the moment and unable to go to work. This news frustrates Dinari since he can't understand why the workers would be too sick to work. He thinks that they are probably being lazy.
"No sick days. If they can't show up, they're fired." Dinari says angrily about the situation. He figures that will get them to come to work. Anyway, he could always replace those lazy workers with Genetech drones, so, they should be happy to go to work, sick or not.
He hangs up on the caller and turns his attention back to the debate of what to with Lucio. "Maybe we should grant him a wish!!" Dinari suggests.

Post by Koivo Koivisto on Jun 28, 2009 11:34:43 GMT -5
Koivo fell backwards into an empty seat, his mind shattered into a million pieces. He had reached out to touch, just touch, for a second, the mind of Lucio. He had been trapped for the whole fight. He had seen everything that went through the man's head throughout. He could taste bile and sickness on the back of his tongue. Koivo hadn't been this sick after attempting to read someone's mind since...yes, that priest. But this was different. The priest had repelled him, the energy drawing process of mind reading reversed. But this Lucio drew him in and held him in a storm of disorder, both of the mental state and the lack of order. Koivo didn't understand, and couldn't make himself understand, this blasphemy of the mind. And when he didn't understand something, and couldn't find a way to understand it, there was only one thing to do. Destroy it.
Koivo rocketed out of the seat, grabbed the railing, and screamed. "Kill it! Kill the dirty freak of nature! No, better yet, rip him to pieces and make him scream until that filthy, demented cesspool that's ironically called a mind is forced to touch, no, be scraped along reality!" He looked at the Master. "The filthy scum! He...he allowed himself to kill them by detaching himself from reality! He made himself believe they were cooking, and that their blood was sauce and jam! He dug at the girls intestines and threw them about because he thought it was strawberry jam! KILL IT!" He stared with the intensity of an imploding star at this hated maniac. "No one escapes from reality, rebel scum! NOBODY!" It was at this point that the railing splintered and shattered in his hands. He looked at them, strangely calmed by the pain. "Oh. Oh my." He looked to the Master and bowed his head. "My apologies. I...lost myself for a second." He looked back at his hands, entranced by the blue-silver blood trickling from the wounds and splintered wood. "I think I'm over tired, I'll retire to my chambers now, and try to get some sleep before I interrogate Anthony West. If you'll excuse me, Master." He bowed slightly before turning away and vanishing, still staring at his hands.

"I don't know. I want to be a machine to avoid human error and emotion, but I don't want to have a job... A purpose for being made... As a human I hate the idea of destiny or determinism just as much as that. And then... I wouldn't want to be under someone else's control. I wouldn't want to loose my free will. Even though I suppose we are under eachothers social control and the control of society as a whole anyway. I just don't want... More direct, visible control inflicted upon me. And to be sure, like pain control is something which is inflicted on the individual."
This is really a complicated question. I become very thoughtful. For every restriction machines have, there is hypothetically a parallel restriction that human beings are faced with. I think they are almost equal. Opposite, but equal.
"What I would really like to be... Is... Unrestricted. Free. But there is no procedure for that, Amelia."
I think about ways that I can gain more freedom, but, there are none. Not really. I am about as free as I will ever get. The only comfort I have is that I am more free than most people, probably more than anyone I know. Psychologically anyway. Nonetheless, this whole thing makes me quite somber.

I don't like the idea of feeding Lucio to pigs. That's just strange. Despite the fact that they are sacred, I very much dislike pigs. I don't know why exactly but I read once that they would become the dominant species on the planet if humans disappeared, and that makes me angry.
"You can't just feed people to pigs! That's so weird... People are suppose to taste like pigs. So basically you're feeding pigs to pigs. That gives you... Crazy pigs. Pigs are suppose to be sacred and you can't just be making pigs crazy."
I can't help but over hear Dinari's telephone conversation. I make a note of how serious he is about his workers showing up to do their jobs. This is somewhat commendable.
"Maybe the Socialist can be in the parade, then be given a job afterward! Rehabilitated!"

Sasha examines the body of Salome Weil and cannot determine if she is still alive. She has lost a lot of blood and is very pale. He stoops down beside her and wonders what can be done for her. They will need to bring her to a doctor. Sasha believes that he knows of one in St. Petersburg. They will have to take a teleportation booth.
"I know of a doctor in Russia if we can teleport to St. Petersburg.." Sasha says to Cephrien. But suddenly from no where, Cephrien is fired upon unexpectedly.

Scrag listens carefully to the cacophony of the crowd. There is a wide range of suggestions of what should be done with Lucio, but the loudest seem to be allowing Lucio to ride on a float in the parade, followed by feeding him to pigs. The Master isn't sure about this idea, but he figures that they may as well reward his victory before executing him.
"The crowd has decided that Lucio the rebel will be allowed to ride on a float in the parade, before he is executed by feeding him to pigs." The Master announces.
He largely ignores Koivo's outburst. The elf tends to be uptight about things....but that flaw in his personality is an asset to his position. He is very thorough and passionate about his work.
As for the pigs, the Watcher has some pet pigs, so, they will suffice for the execution. He will contact Jethro to arrange for the execution.
"So ends the competition. Tomorrow will be the final day of Holy Week, ending it with a large parade." He announces. He stands up, leads the arena in a prayer to themselves and their own greatness, before departing for the High Temple.

While Archer and Amelia are talking, Bonifaz goes to the door, since he hears a knock. He opens it and notices a man with white hair that he doesn't recognize. His immediate reaction is that this man must be with Gentech since their soldiers have white hair. He looks him over, and wonders if they are in some sort of trouble now. It would be just his luck after the android incident. Perhaps the soldier is there because of the Cat Flu incident. However, it seems too quick for that.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Bonifaz asks the white haired stranger. (Rust)

"Are humans ever free? They have need for food and air, machines have need for a fuel source or repairs. Who is free? Everything depends on something. Maybe people have invented Gods so that they can imagine something that is free of all things in the universe. But, even Gods needed a universe to exist for them and people to worship them. I cannot think of any thing that is free." Amelia states to Archer. She notices someone at the door and takes a step back, moving to stand behind Archer. She sees the white haired man and knows that things are not safe. She scans his Credit Score, but there is none. "Genetech soldiers have credit." She states, as if to guess Bonifaz's line of reasoning.

After the fights end, Dinari is excited that Lucio will be in the parade but also fed to pigs. "Feeding him to pigs isn't such a bad idea. I wouldn't want to die that way though." Dinari shares, even though it isn't all that insightful.
"I guess we can leave this place and go do something else. I probably should call back to Allwhere. Some of the workers at one of the factories have been calling in sick. Maybe because I'm not around, they think that can get away with that sort of stuff. They're probably just playing hookie."

Kasper tends to Armin and Hilja, bringing them water and making them soup. He works very hard to care for his sick comrades. It isn't even flu season, but, maybe they picked something up from their travels, he reasons. After a few days taking care of the both of them, they don't seem to be any better. What's worse, he starts to feel ill. It starts with muscle aches and a fever, but soon his sinuses and throat also start to bother him. Unable to care for Hilja and Armin, he goes to his own room to rest. He has the naive optimism that maybe he can fight it off somehow. He lays in bed and thinks a little about Em before falling asleep.

After Archer leaves the room, Heikki falls back to sleep for a while. He wakes up sometime later when he hears a crash downstairs. He sits up in bed and listens, but isn't sure what is going on down there. Only after things quiet down does he decide that maybe he should check on everyone. He puts a blanket on around him, wrapping it around his whole body and head like a woolly burka. He heads downstairs and sees Amelia, Bonifaz, Archer, a hole in the wall, and a stranger at the door. He peeks at the scene with his glossy red eyes. His skin is very pale and he looks like death warmed over. He doesn't say anything, just observes the scene. He coughs a little. There must have been a fight of some kind. He notices a white haired fellow at the door and becomes worried that it could be someone from Genetech.
