Peter smirked. A bottling facility? Delightful. Expanding Allmart and (by association) America. "I'll gave the drafting department start putting together some paperwork on it sir. Um, the moment that any of the drafting department recovers of course." He hadn't been aware of the sweeping sickness until just recently. It'd surprised him and it was more than a little worrying. He hadn't gotten sick with anything since he'd been changed by GeneTech, something about his DNA or the drugs, he wasn't sure, but since he wasn't taking the drugs anymore...
"I believe," Peter cut in, "That innoculation is actually against Manala policies. It protects the weak. In order for a disease to be considered worth protecting against it would need to be something nearly completely fatal. If people are not dying of this sickness than I would worry that the church is likely to block any attempts to prevent any of the Cursed from suffering its ravages."

"I don't care what they think!"
I say, snapping at Peter. This is more due to stress than anything. I let out a deep breath and loosen my tie.
"I need this to be resolved. My workers cannot be sick. What I do is indispensable to the world. Without me, everything will stop. Without Crest Mining, there is nothing. The Manalists have to understand that. I'd like to see how long their principle and rhetoric will last when we're all in the dark!"
I cross my arms over my chest and feel unbelievably stressed.

"I believe you, sir," Peter replied, bowing his head slightly and trying to conceal a smirk. "But you need to consider how Manalists think.
Consider. You must protect your workers or the world will fall apart. Everyone knows this. Your workers can not be protected as you need them to due to Manalist rules. But they must, and so they shall be. When the world is no longer in danger, due to your efforts, than you will appear weak to Manalist eyes and they may attempt to take your power from you.
Not to say that they would," Peter added quickly, "Or that they truly could, but I do believe you can see the logical progression in these actions. By saving the world you may well make your own life much more difficult."

Peter is so level-headed. I am very impressed. I am not usually impressed by people... But this is probably because the people I spend most of my time with are underlings at the office or whimsical business leaders like Dinari. I sigh and get myself a Cola.
"Okay, okay... Well then. I've got to think about what I'm going to do. The android labor can tide us over for now and in the mean time we can start looking into other solutions. Maybe hiring new part-time workers from a healthy pool? Everyone in the world can't be sick... That doesn't solve the problem though. Many jobs having to do with mining require intensive training and expertise. You can't just hire replacements for that sort of thing."
I take along sip of my drink and think about the situation at hand. I really have no idea what can be done. I feel cornered.
"Maybe we should talk to the Manalists... And see if something can't be worked out... Considering this is an emergency."

"Oh don't worry. I was just giving you a warning. The water is just fine and I haven't seen any jelly fish." Kith tries to reassure Linnea. He dunks his head under water and opens his eyes. He expected to see fish or maybe some interesting rocks, but instead he only sees sand. He resurfaces and waits for Linnea. "Anyway, life is full of risks and I don't think that jelly fish is the worst thing out there..." He adds.

Attis laughs a little to himself when the heat gets turned up. If nothing else this road trip has been amusing. He pulls out a bag of red leaf from his back pocket. It is small, but he throws it up towards the front.
"That might help you feel better. The Manalists take it to increase their powers. It's all natural and it might enhance your immune system." Attis says of the red leaf. He waits to see if there are any takers.

"This should be a drug free van." Armin says before coughing. He scoots away from the bag as if it is full of poison. Since it is getting pretty warm in the van, he rolls down the window nearest to him. He doesn't know why Archer would want to make the car ride miserable for everyone.
"I think we're on E now..." Armin says, trying to hide the fact that he is annoyed with the presence of Red Leaf and the extreme heat in the van.

"Come on now everyone, it is a long drive. Let's try to get along." Horacio pipes in. He reaches to the front of the van and turns on the radio. It is M TV 's radio station and it tunes on just in time to hear a public service announcement about washing hands and being mindful that it is flu season. The message is pretty inoccuous. Yet, at the same time, there is something suspicious about it. Horacio chooses to ignore it.
"We will officially call the new anarchist group...Anarchist Collective/Nothing/Black Bloc...since as Salome suggested earlier...that is the most democratic decision." Horacio announces, trying to bring things back to business.

"You can never really please EVERYONE. What about the people not in the van who might not like those names. That's why it is best just to come up with one name that most people will be okay with. Realistically, people just don't get what they want...all the time." Armin says about this idea that everyone should have to come to a consensus about the name of the anarchist group. He feels that many activists waste far too much time on these details. "But if it saves time, sure, call it that." He then glances at the bag of red leaf that he still feels threatened by. "Someone should throw that out of the window. We could get into trouble!"

Post by Dinari Dollar on Mar 10, 2010 23:14:02 GMT -5
Dinari thinks of a couple of thoughts and considers Calithin's suggestion of talking directly to the Manalists. "Or maybe we could talk to the Moderator. I think we have a better chance going to him than....like to Scrag or any of those others.." Dinari suggests. He taps his fingers on his desk.
"Or, maybe we could go directly to the companies that might be able to find a vaccine...like Genetech or that German company." He adds. "I think that the "Manalist" thing to do is to take matters into our own hands and find our own solutions. Even if it means protecting our workers from vaccination...it is for our own interests...and a decision made in self interest can be defended to the Manalists." Dinari reasons. He rubs his head. He is thinking too much and it is making his head hurt a little. "Then, when this is resolved, we should celebrate by doing something really really fun."

"It's flu season so remember to wash your hands and cover your coughs." Bonifaz states, repeating what the radio just said. "Attis could be right about Red Leaf helping with illnesses. The Manalists do take it to increase their power. I've also known people with HGTV to take it to relieve their symptoms. It is worth a try."
But, suddenly Bonifaz stops the van. A tree has fallen onto the road rendering it impassable. Bonifaz turns off the vehicle and opens the door. He hangs out for a moment. "Anyone want to help move this?" He asks before setting out to try to push it out of the way. It is a sizeable tree.

"I suggest that we meet with the Moderator. When he called me, he stated that other companies had experienced this epidemic and that he had contacted Genetech about finding out more information and about a vaccine. Maybe he has made some discoveries." Keitoleinen suggests. He feels a little bored in Dinari's office, so he randomly starts dropping things off of the desk to see what kind of sound they make when they hit the floor.

"Hey!"
I step on the items from Dinari's desk after they fall on the floor, to see how they will look... After they've been stepped on. This amuses me very much and totally brightens my mood.
"When I get bored, I destroy things... Or I guess sometimes people... in my immediate vicinity too! That is so interesting... Maybe it runs in the family."
People complain about this trait of mine all the time and it makes me feel good to see some form of solidarity in someone else.
"Anyway, yeah! To the Moderator! Lead the way! Great idea!"
I finish my Cola and throw the empty can against one of the walls in the office.

Max watched the video again and nodded his head to the speakers comments. "It is indeed, quite odd to be seeing the Elves at work here. I do not know much about the manilist power and cannot use them personally. I do know of a gent that comes in on occasion that is fairly high up in the manilist regime that can use them. I have never asked though. I am but a simple human."
His phone beeped that he had just received a message. He dismissed it and put the device back in his suit pocket.
"I have another 3 employees out of commission. I think that this sickness is going to get quite a bit worse before it gets better." He leaned back into a more relaxed position. "What are you guys planning on doing about the sickness? I am out of ideas. We have things that need to be done, and projects to complete, and i simply cannot keep up with all these absences. How is it on your end?"

"Yes, ma'am." Bambi nods her head in understanding as she takes the file, watching Annette leave with a controlled expression. She takes note of blinking voice mail and memo only after it's too late to alert Annette of them. Well, she supposed it was for the better. She picks up the memo to place it onto Annette's desk.
Of course, she couldn't help the fact her eyes glanced at some of the words. She felt guilty enough glancing at it so she contained herself from reading it. It wasn't her fault, if she'd let it on the floor it could've been lost... Wait, the Moderator?!
She'd never met with him before. Her mind was assaulted by a whole new slew of worries as she headed toward the teleportation booth. It'd be alright, all she had to do was hand him the file... And maybe she'd get to hear more about this flu situation in the waiting room. With a steadying breath, she racks her memory for the correct code before punching it in.
