Chapter 2: Works of Love

Peter checks his phone when it shakes. A text from Tuvi... everything is in order. All that remained was for Dinari to make the public address and even that could be circumvented by Tuvi putting out a press release for the man. He smiled and returned the phone to his pocket before brushing splinters off his shirt. He'd spent the last few minutes taking a two by four to the windows of one of the buildings in this part of the city. And he wasn't alone anymore, he had other people wandering through the streets to boot. He'd given a few of them the two by four treatment as well because too many people fighting and looting would led to full on riots, not what he wanted. Just enough to make everyone think there was a better place to live these days.

Anthony awakes with a start and sees his shrubs have finished growing. He gets out of his seat and walks over to inspect them. "Amazing," he mutters. The plants had begun to evolve. He takes one out and starts to examine it.

Ronny had stay in her bedroom for 3 days. She only leaves her room if she needs to go to use the restoom and find something to eat. She is still expect from Scrag to be perfect young girl.

Then Ronny ask permission from Scrag if she could travel around for a few days. Scrag was hesitant at first, but let her travel and expects her to be a good role for the younger manalists. Just before she left, Scrag told her that she can't go to Sweden because the people will regonize her as the Princess of Sweden. Ronny simply nod before she left the temple in Rome.

"At least I won't smell his stench." Ronny mutter to herself before she took a teleportation booth and went to Finland again.

Anthony is in deep concentration when he feels a hand on his shoulder. He takes a deep breath and says, in a respectful tone, "Dr. Hoito, that used to scare the shit out of me, but now it has now effect." He turns around and becomes face-to-face with his boss. Dr. Hoito grins and walks away. Anthony also grins as he turns back around and takes some bark samples from the shrub.

[††Venice "Cephrien" Ashgrove††]

Soon, Cephrien arrives in a social district in Cuba where many of the citizens are. With his white hair and strange outfit, he naturally stuck out alot and grabbed the attention of many people.. though not many folks would think that he was actually an assassin hunting some rebels. First things first.. stick out and walk out, that's how you grab the attention of the people you want.

He would just have to keep his eyes peeled and senses up for any abnormal fluxations in the balance.

[Dinari Dollar]

Dinari checks his messages and sees that he has messages from Peter and Tuvi. He will have to touch bases with Tuvi later about what she discussed with Calithin. Whatever it was, he is sure she handled it well and he has no reason to have concern.

As for the situation in Cuba, Dinari gets a message from Peter about going public with some things. Dinari usually screws things up, but arranges for himself an interview with M TV, that is Manala Television.

Later that day, Dinari appears on Global News, a program on M TV.

"Now, it seems there's been lots of chaos in Cuba right now. There's been looting, riots, and a lot of violence between rebels. I guess this just goes to show the weakness in rebel ideology. They just can't keep their shit together like the Manalists can!" He says in an interview. He is asked a few questions about the situation.

"Well now, there's been refugees arriving in Florida in rafts...so this situation is really impacting All Mart and America. That's why it's our place...as a friendly neighbor, to rebuild Cuba and make it a safe place to live. A place where families can grow large and strong and worship Father Manala in peace...without worry of rebels and stuff like that.."

[Jumala Keitoleinen]

The next day, Linnea fails to arrive at work. Her coworkers call her home but there is no answer. Keitoleinen sits in his office and wonders why Linnea didn't show up. He wonders if she is sick or if he should pay her a visit. Usually she would call in though if she was sick.

The last he saw of Linnea, she left with the man who had visited her gallery. He wonders if maybe they ran away together. But, where would they run? Maybe to the United States or whatever is left of it?

These thoughts worry him slightly.

[Kaschei Bessmertny]

Kaschei watches M TV Global News and notices that Dinari Dollar is giving an interview on the situation in Cuba. He listens carefully to what Dinari has to say. It seems that Dinari wants to develop the country and make it safe for Manalism. He ponders for a moment what this could mean.

He doesn't think that Dinari, an eccentric capitalist bent on renewing America would really care much about the people of Cuba or Manalism. From what Kaschei can guess, he assumes that Dinari has business interests in mind. That much would be obvious.

Kaschei decides that he will do nothing right now but wait and see what Alexei and Machiavelli learn while there.

[Bonifaz Artz-Lehrer]

Bonifaz returns to his home outside of Munich. He turns on a light. His place is dark and cold. No one is home right now. He is not sure where everyone is. Sometimes they just disperse on their own, do their own thing, then come back together for planning or just a safe place to stay.

He is weary. He spent the day with his father and it always wears on him. His father is interested in securing more opium, which they could process into morphine and codeine. Bonifaz isn't sure where to turn. He would rather not visit Kailah or the Mafia about such matters.

So, father and son are looking to buy land in Hungary, which maybe they can use for growing poppies.

I wonder how Cephrien is doing, but really I have no time to wonder. I do hope he learns of something in Cuba. I only saw part of Dinari Dollar's interview because I was busy preparing for my next speech.

I spend a little time with a makeup artist before standing out on a stage in London to give a speech. I make speeches in various locations so that everyone feels included in Manalism. The topic of the speech today is drugs...

"Master Scrag has asked me to speak to you today about a very serious problem. This problem is drug use, especially the abuse of red leaf. Now, I am sure that all of you in the audience are good, hard working Manalists. You never drink or use drugs an escape. To do this is a sign of weakness. It is a sign of weakness in character. It is a sign of emotional and mental weakness. The strong...the Blessed, surely do not require substances. They are strong and capable people who find a natural high in their own abilities and accomplishments. Drug use is tacky. It is for the lazy. Those who are too weak to deal with reality and succeed in this world!" I tell the audience. The audience seems a little quieter today.

"It is a sin to do drugs...because it is a sin against yourself. Every substance you abuse is an abuse to your greatness. Father Manala wants you to strive to be your best. He does not want you to abuse ...your perfect self."

I go on for a while about the sin of drug use and reiterate the point that it is a sin because it makes a person lazy, stupid, and weak.

"You are all called to be Blessed! But are you strong enough to meet that challenge?"

[Tristan Tuzanic]

Tristan was at a bar in Helsinki when he heard the speech given by Li Violette. He took another drink, but not of any hard liquor. He liked to drink frilly, fruity looking drinks that looked pretty. Some people picked on him about the fact that he liked to drink unmasculine things. He really didn't care though.

At least he could still drink in Finland, and a few other places in the world.

"Stupid Blessed. Whatever, I'm just as good as any of them. I'm better than all of them. Yeah, they would be weak too if they lived my life." He says aloud.

He draws some attention from other bar patrons.

I continue to do some gardening, singing a little to myself as I go on to do the watering. I think of some things. I think about how Calithin treats me, but also of Attis and how strange this Charon is. The only thing that makes me feel the slightest bit happy is that later this week I have a meeting with some of my political friends.

We don't meet very often because we must be very careful about these things. But, at least that gives me hope. It seems though that rebelion is so ...tiny and ununified. My only comfort is that at least..some people want things to be different.
