She wears her hair down and messy or in pig tails. She looks younger than her age. She has large eyes, small lips, and a round face with high cheek bones.
Personality:
Hilja is masochistic, somewhat serious, and hard working. She is socially anxious and has low self esteem. She is most confident when she is talking about an educational topic and feels knowledgable about politics. She is curious and loves to learn. She enjoys traveling, but lacks the money to travel as much as she would like. She is cheerful and tries to remain possitive no matter how hard life gets. Despite this, she sometimes suffers from depression. She is a likeable person, but fears letting people get to know her too well. She is messy and creative. She likes to try new things, but hates small talk and pop culture. She doesn't like being female, but doesn't exactly want to be a guy either. She dreams of traveling the world, being a useful revolutionary, becoming a professor, and making a difference in the world.

Hilja was born in Helsinki to a poor Christian family. Because her mother is Christian, her family was persecuted. Hilja herself is not Christian. She is an atheist with a strong distaste for anything spiritual or religious. Hilja's mother is a teacher in Helsinki and Hilja's father disappeared years ago. It is thought that he went to live in the former United States, where he remarried.
She has a younger brother who works for the Manalists at a Psychologist. Her brother is a famous psychologist and one of the Blessed. At times she feels jealous of her brother's success and popularity. Her brother, Dr. Lonrott, erased her memories due to a painful experience that she had with a fox demon named Attis. He only errased memories concerning Attis.
Hilja is a plant person, but does not know this. Her family also does not know this. Her family is human, so it is a mystery how she ended up with them. Perhaps she was switched at birth? It remains to be seen. Although she does not know this, she is actually a plant person who once lived in Russia under the name Sasha Pisarev. Sasha was a Botanist who killed himself with opium and hemlock over a distressing relationship. Somehow Sasha returned as Hilja, perhaps because plant people can not be killed unless they are completely destroyed. Plant people can also switch genders.
In any event, Hilja is entirely unaware of this past. She works very hard in Helsinki, doing her best to pay off some debts and avoid the creditors. Aside from working hard, she is a member of a small socialist group called Socialist Revolution. The group has not managed to do much against the Manalists, but being part of it gives her hope that maybe someday things can be different.
She takes on numerous jobs mostly due to student loan debt. She attended college in Helsinki which was very expensive for her. She had to take out loans and now the Creditors are always after her.
