He carries a small rusty blade he found in an alley just in case.
Appearance:
Cam is 5’8” tall and weighs 145lbs, leaving him on the smaller side. He has dark brown hair, a stubbly beard, and blue eyes. He’s pale and appears undernourished despite his large appetite. On most days he can be found in a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, or whatever else he manages to get his hands on.
Personality:
Cam is a bit blunt and overzealous, he believes firmly in the power of experience and is ready to try anything at least once. He’s usually the life of the party and can get along well with anyone, but he cowers in the presence of authority. When Cam does become upset, he grows increasingly quiet. Although he often comes off as the happy-go-lucky sort, it is mostly an escapist tactic that allows him to forget his troubles for the time being. He has a great dislike for cats and doctors.
Story:
Cam was born in Torino, Italy to the impoverished couple Giancarlo Derossi and Anna LeReaux. At the time of his birth it was clear Cam was not a healthy child, and his parents decided to use the small savings they had to move to L’Aquila where a secret doctor resided who could offer the drugs and care Cam required.
Giancarlo and Anna took whatever jobs they could at this time in order to afford the care needed for their son. At their lowest point, both parents were working three jobs while still trying to care for Cam. The lifestyle became too much of a strain for Anna, and she took her own life when Cam was just three years old.
And so Cam was left to live with his father, which was far from fun. Giancarlo grew to blame Cam for the death of Anna, since it was the sickly little boy’s fault they had become so stressed and overworked in the first place. Giancarlo lashed out at Cam for everything, for getting fired, for the rain, for the lack of cheap prostitutes in the city. He never understood why his father was so deranged by the death of his mother. Sure, it wasn’t a nice thing when he found her dangling from the light fixture in the living room, her face so blue and lifeless, but he wasn’t going to waste the rest of his life pitying his dear mother and blaming others for her demise.
When Cam was 15 he decided he had enough. Completely uneducated and without a cent to spare, he left home and moved to Rome in search of better things. Of course, Rome wasn’t much better than L’Aquila anyway, but at least he was away from his father screaming at him and beating him senseless. In order to make it by, Cam began to delve into thievery. He actually became quite good at it. To him, it was an easy way to get what he needed without participating in back-breaking labor that was sure to leave him in a fit of coughs. Instead, he just needed to creep on through someone’s home or office and could quietly traipse away with his goods. He came to find his talents were highly sought after. In this day and age, people were always going without things they needed or wanted, but with a handy thief nearby they could get whatever their hearts desired.
Cam’s greatest accomplishment was lifting a massive stash of Red Leaf, which he later sold to the Enlightened Brotherhood. During this transaction, Cam found himself lost in the allure of the Enlightened Brotherhood, and remained in their company for a few years. While the others were there to discuss deep spiritual and philosophical matters, however, Cam mostly stayed for the drugs. The escapism enticed him, it was so nice to smoke his life away, forgetting about all of his problems and just letting the days go by. This was far from helpful to his medical condition, and Cam was often bedridden for days at a time.
Eventually Cam left the Enlightened Brotherhood, tired of their boastfulness at being so mind-blowingly superior to the rest of the world. Cam decided to try and get a real job for a change, and ended up as a grave digger at the Temple of Terror where he takes his sweet time shoveling away. It’s not the greatest job for someone with a lung disease, but it’s better than being cooped up inside all day long.
