Appearance:
Standing at 4'5" and weighing a flimsy 90 lbs, Nihato hardly bears the appearance of the grand scientist she once was. Her hair waves gently down to her mid-back, a vibrant strawberry blond. Once grayed from the mutated Gray sickness, her eyes now shine their old sky-blue. Her skin glows a healthy cream color vastly different from the pasty white she'd come to know as sickness gripped her body.
She bears only the hint of curves on the frame of her young body. Her clothes are limited, mostly stolen garments. As of now she sports baggy overalls (with the bottoms rolled up to prevent tripping), her old shirt tucked under with sleeves that reach her elbows from the size. A sleeveless jean jacket helps keep her warm when she needs its.
Personality:
Despite her appearance, her personality remains unchanged. Nihato, as always, operates by reason. Some needs only provide enough evidence to back up their claim to have her support on the matter. Impressing her is no easy task. Her decisions are rational, rarely taking her emotions into account when she's contemplating a situation. The best possible solution for all is the one made even if a sacrifice of some kind is required.
Many of these traits contribute to her rise as a recognized scientist, but she despises many aspects of the Manalist religion. She agrees with very few principles promoted by the religion. Primarily, they have to do with being compassionate about your work. Otherwise she believes people deserve equal claim to happiness. (Here, happiness meaning a comfortable life.) She shows the most emotion toward her work and the ideals she devotes herself to.
Her humor is dry, a laugh something that rarely escapes her lips. She prefers being frank to jokes or "beating around the bush". There's little point in delaying the inevitable in her eyes. Years of having assistants have made her a bit bossy at times, usually when she finds herself deeply involved in her work. However, she's very adaptable and quick to learn- two prominent reasons she's still living today. She keeps her composure under pressure despite any intensity.
Story:
Born in Dublin to working class parents, Nihato was raised (as most children are) with the drilling of Manalist beliefs. She was left alone for long periods of times as her parents slaved to feed their child with back-breaking work. While they worked, the young girl enjoyed playing at the local Genetech headquarters. They were both miners, constantly exposed to the harmful radiation of Manala crystals that power the world. As Nihato grew older her mother became too effected by Gray Sickness to continue working.
She now spent her days caring for her mother, watching as the sickness stole the life from her. It was during these years that her eyes begun to open to the world. She rejected Manalism, longing for a free society where her family didn't live in rags or eat scraps for dinner. Her mother died with Gray Sickness overtaking her father soon after. She entered the world of labor in order to care for her now dying father. She attained a low grade job at Genetech, the wonder of her youth.
With amazing determination, she devoured knowledge at every turn and swallowed her pride to shove her way up the ranks in Manalist fashion. She was in a race against time with a new goal in her life: to find a cure for Gray Sickness or a way to reverse the process. Her father died the day after she was awarded a place as a scientist. Grief stricken, she continued her work halfheartedly until she discovered that her body held a mutated strand of Gray Sickness. Her mother working while pregnant was surely the cause.
If Nihato didn't finish her work, she would die the same way as her parents at a much younger age. Unfortunately, she had joined the ranks of Red Infinity shortly after her father's death once she had discovered their existence. (Well, they had discovered her.) She found she agreed with their ideals passionately and had pledged to their cause. This wouldn't have been a problem if her sickness hadn't accelerated the harder she worked.
She was so close to finishing the prototype of her medication when her ill mind let slip her true beliefs to the wrong person. An investigation begun into what sort of work she was really doing. Forewarned by a comrade, she knew that she'd be placed in prison to die once they discovered that she was working on a cure as medicine was banned. Even with the warning she was too weak to relocate her work.
Deciding she had one last option, Nihato barricaded herself in her lab. She hastily added the finishing touches as the Manalist soldiers begun trying to break down the door. With no other choice, she downed the prototype herself. Her body was assaulted with more pain than the sickness it had been created to cure. It was a miracle she didn't pass out (more than likely thanks to the pain tolerance the mutated Gray Sickness had built), as she suddenly found that her clothes were much too large for her.
The cure had worked! There was one problem- it hadn't exactly produced the expected results. She was now her twelve year old self. The aging process had been reversed at far too great a speed. With the pounding of soldiers at the door as a reminder, she shed the baggy garments except for her shirt and grabbed as much of her work as she could. She escaped into the vents with youthful energy she hadn't felt in years.
OOC:
Hope this is okay! I'll be glad to change anything if not. I'm not introducing a cure to Gray sickness to the RP or anything since she's pretty much lost all her work.
